Calvary Christian Varsity Basketball
Information Update
Next week's away games against St. Paul will be scheduled over two days. Because of the academic problems we are trying to overcome, I believe it would be wise to only allow those with current or prior academic problems to attend only one of the two nights. I would appreciate parental oversight on the night they stay home. Get those undone assignments done!
Monday, December 12 at St Paul (7th grade game at 6:15)
Please be in the St Pauls gym at 5:30 PM.
(Players should remember to eat light before the game.)

Practice, Monday, December 19th
Because the 5th and 6th grade games will be played in our gym that night, the Varsity will practice from 3:30 to 5:00 PM. You may pick your athlete up at 5:30 as there will be games going on that they can watch. Give them a buck or two. The refreshment stand will be open!
Vacation Varsity Practice Schedule
Practice will run from 3:30 to 5:30 on:
December
22 Thursday
27 Tuesday
29 Thursday
January
02 Monday
03 Tuesday
05 Thursday
06 Friday
Please know that I understand you may have plans that prevent your athlete from attending some vacation practices. I would appreciate knowing in advance. I have explained to the boys that it is not their fault and they are to be obedient to parental orders. They have been warned, however, that if those who do attend pass them in skills or understand the offense well enough to execute, those that do not attend may lose some playing time. This is life! Dont complain! God knows what he is doing!
Thanks,
Coach Stan

Hey Basketball Family,
Bob Skelley just let me know that our home games for Thursday, originally scheduled to start at 4:15pm and 5:15pm, WILL NOW BE STARTING AT 4pm AND 5pm. Due to a martial arts class which has the gym starting at 6:00pm on Thursdays, it is important that the games be done by 6:00pm. With that in mind, anybody willing to help Bob transition the gym from basketball court to martial arts studio on Thursday nights is greatly appreciated.
So don't be late for Thursday's games, with JV starting at 4:00pm and varsity starting at 5:00pm.
Thanks,
Coach Jeff

THIS JUST IN...
Hey Everyone,
Bob Skelley just sent me the following directions to the Downers Grove Christian basketball game for Tuesday, Dec 6th. Junior Varsity plays at 4:15PM, Varsity plays at 5:15PM. I'm sure many of you that participated in basketball last year remember the location of the school. Just in case you forgot, or you are new to the team, the directions are listed below.
Also, a van for the varsity team will be leaving the CCS gym to drive to DG Christian at 3:30PM. The varsity players will gather in the gym and leave from there. Similar to the last away game, parents are free to take their student home with them from the game, but please let us know that they will not be returning on the school van. (Varsity players are NOT required to ride in the van if a parent wants to bring them to the game instead.)
Thanks,
Coach Jeff

Hey Basketball Family,
I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend.
We have 2 games this week. Tuesday’s game is away at DG Christian. The students will be getting information regarding the location of Tuesday’s game at practice today. The varsity players have the option to ride in a van going to the game that will leave the school at 3:30PM Tuesday afternoon. The van will return to the school after the game.
Our second game this week will be on Thursday afternoon at the CCS gym. We will be playing Cross Lutheran.
I have attached a schedule of practices and games for the rest of the season. Please focus on the practices that we will be having during the 2 weeks CCS is on the Christmas break. These practices are extremely important to the coaching staff. We value the time in the gym with the team alone (no other practices or activities going on.) It allows us to talk to the players, and we have found that the players are much more focused. We appreciate every effort you make to get the players to the gym for these practices.
Also note that we have checked and rechecked the schedule for accuracy, and feel it is a good representation of what we plan to have happen. However, please be forgiving if we should have to make any changes or alterations to the schedule.
Just a reminder that we want our players to have a bottle of water (or a sports drink) they can drink during games. Packing an empty sports bottle that can be filled up at the gym once we get there is a great idea. There is no guarantee that a concession stand will be available at away games.
The coaching staff appreciates your support.
Thanks,
Coach Jeff
P.S. – The attached schedule has been generated to a PDF file format. If you are unable to open the schedule, or want to check it out online, I have duplicated it on Lord & Murphy’s website. I also have an archive of past e-mails I have sent, and a listing of our game schedule.
